Thomas Nalevanko Sr. Obituary

Thomas M. Nalevanko Sr., passed into eternal rest at his home in Crabtree, Pennsylvania on January 4,2026. Tom is survived by his wife of 65 years Maryann (Swiencki) and son Mark (Laura), daughter Annie (Ken Grohe), daughter-in-law Gina and 6 grandchildren; Nicole (Justin Wells), Erin, Anthony (Taylor), Samantha, Olivia, and Ryan and 2 great grandchildren; Landon and Ava. Tom was preceded in death by his two sons Thomas Jr & George. Born and raised in western Pennsylvania, Tom was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan and a longtime resident of Crabtree. Tom was the youngest of 12 to George and Anna Nalevanko. He founded a respected plumbing and heating business alongside his brother-in-law. Tom was a devoted parishioner of the Catholic Church, living his faith through acts of service to the St. James and St. Bartholomew communities. He delighted strangers and friends alike with his famous pierogis, homemade jerky, and delicious chocolate chip cookies. Tom will be remembered for his steady presence, warm compassion, and the ease with which he made others feel welcome, as well as his devotion to his wife and family. Thomas lived a full and meaningful life, marked by deep connections with those around him. He leaves behind family, friends, and neighbors who will remember him with respect and fondness. What made Tom happy was time with his family, playing dominoes, planting dahlias, cooking, baking, making woodworking projects for others, making food for the church, and experiencing the Catholic faith with his wife Maryann. Most who knew Tom referred to him as a Saint of a man. He led with his heart, guided by a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday, January 9th at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend Justin Matro O.S.B. as celebrant at St. James Church, 306 St. James Lane, New Alexandria, PA 15670.
